Spring 2009
Welcome to the homepage of the Western Mass Climbers' Coalition! Founded on a few core ideas scratched on a napkin in a bar at the dawn of time, we are a non-profit representing over 350 members, hard at work preserving access to the incredible rock climbing resources of western Massachusetts.

Our latest and greatest project is progressing very well, in spite of hurdles that would tire even Flo Jo. The acquisition of land abutting southern New England’s best kept secret, Farley Ledge, has thrived due to the dedication and financial willpower of an extraordinary community of devoted climbers. The great news is that we have completed the public parking area and trail head on WMCC owned land. Most of this work was completed at last fall’s Adopt-a-Crag day.
Aside from the day to day news of preserving lands and saving the world, Farley and surrounding areas have continued to experience new route development and steady streams of visitors who have come to climb some of the incredibly varied rock in western Massachusetts. From classic gneiss slopers, basalt pinches, pocketed conglomerate, and granite slabs, this end of the state has something to offer everyone. World class bouldering, sport climbing and trad routes are scattered throughout the area putting Massachusetts on the radar for many climbers. We expect that after you “Climb Gneiss,” that you will see why. Looking forward to seeing you out there!
While our work continues to push forward, the WMCC still needs your support to finish paying for the Farley Ledge project. Your tax deductible donation helps ensure the success of this project and others to come. Please consider a donation today by clicking on the Donate button on the right-hand side of this page.
Thanks for checking in and your continued support. Climb hard and Climb Gneiss!
